Exploring Practices and Theories in Digital Diaspora Studies

From June 17 to 19, 2026, the AFROEUROPECYBERSPACE team will organize a three-day international conference on “Navigating Afro-Knowledges Exploring Practices and Theories in Digital Diaspora Studies” at the Forum am Domshof at the University of Bremen. This conference invites participants to explore, challenge and reframe the theoretical and methodological tools currently used in the study of digital diasporas. It foregrounds the lived practices, creative expressions, and activist interventions that emerge from Afrodiasporic cyberspaces, positioning them not at the margins, but at the centre of digital cultural production and critique, with particular focus on Romance-speaking countries.

Vom 17. bis 19. Juni 2026 wird das AFROEUROPECYBERSPACE-Team eine dreitägige internationale Konferenz zum Thema „Navigation durch Afro-Wissen: Erforschung von Praktiken und Theorien in digitalen Diaspora-Studien“ im Forum am Domshof der Universität Bremen organisieren. Diese Konferenz lädt die Teilnehmer ein, die theoretischen und methodischen Werkzeuge, die derzeit in der Erforschung digitaler Diasporas verwendet werden, zu erforschen, herauszufordern und neu zu gestalten. Sie stellt die gelebten Praktiken, kreativen Ausdrucksformen und aktivistischen Interventionen, die aus afrodiasporischen Cyberspaces hervorgehen, in den Vordergrund und positioniert sie nicht am Rand, sondern ins Zentrum der digitalen kulturellen Produktion und Kritik, mit besonderem Fokus auf romanischsprachige Länder.
